Raya needs her younger sister in game. Her full name is Ariel Cecilia David Oliveira Castelo Branco, but she goes by Ari. Ari is 27, a bitten were dog, and her PB is Missy Peregrym.
Basically my idea for Ari is that she went through a lot of the same milestones that Raya did, but at slightly different points in her life, and she reacted in slightly different ways, turning her into someone very like but very unlike her older sister at the same time. I imagine that they have a very complicated relationship, though ultimately I think that Raya would take a bullet for her sister without a second thought (and not just because she’s been shot before and knows she can heal from it).
Both of them were born in New York City, and the family moved to their father’s native Portugal when Raya was five and Ari was two. Because of this, Raya often felt out of place in Portugal, while Ari didn’t. Five years later, they moved back to the States, this time to Chicago.
Seven years later, they moved
again, this time to Israel. Their parents timed the move so that Ari could start high school there, and Raya was torn away from the place she thought of as home as well as her best friend and boyfriend, Grant Matthews. Raya entered the Army after high school to do her compulsory service, choosing to go into a combat unit, which meant three years enlistment instead of two, as well as two in the Reserves afterward. Ari entered the Army as well, just as Raya was finishing her active duty, though it’s not been established whether she followed in her older sister’s footsteps or chose another path.
After the Army, Raya moved in with her parents in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they’d moved sometime between Ari entering the Army and Raya getting out of the Reserves. She enrolled in the police academy and did extremely well, going on to do three years in patrol before moving to narcotics. Around the time that she got promoted, Ari entered the police academy, and was living with Raya temporarily until she entered the force and could get her own place. It was while Ari was living with Raya that Raya was bitten - along with most of her unit - and turned into a were dog.
She didn’t know until the following full moon when she shifted for the first time, unfortunately with her sister and Ari’s boyfriend in the house. The boyfriend was killed and Ari changed into a were dog as well. Ari moved out not long afterwards. Her history since then is mostly up for grabs, though I think she’s still a cop.
